how to use mac address as index

Post by duncanb »

I have a mib table I want to track in Cacti. It tracks all the associations to the radio and returns traffic rates, etc. Right now it uses the numeric index, which means any time the associations change the index on my mac address is different. Is there a way to index by the mac address instead?

I have included the xml file I created.

If the mac address isn't available in the mib table, you'll need to have a script query to do this.

You can do that here: http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:3a_adv ... alkthrough

The mac address is in the table. I'm trying to figure out how to use the mac as the index instead of the default index.

I finally had to write a perl script which would take the ip address of the device i was reporting on and return the information for the correct MAC Address. The walk-through was very helpful for getting it set up properly.
