How to add VMware MIBs

Post by davidkillingsworth »

Hello.

I have found these MIBs for vmware here:
http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/e ... ViZHdlZQ==

I'm wondering whether they need to be added to my Cacti server, and if so, how that is done.

We do not rely on MIBs. Please always use the numerical form (the OIDs). The MIBs will give you hints, in more or less human readable form, which OID provides which data.

Find the steps to build custom data sources explained in detail at 1st link of my sig

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've looked through the documentation more thoroughly.

I've also looked through those MIB files from the VMware website. They look pretty useless.

I'm really just wanted to get VMFS volume disk space availability, which doesn't show up with the normal SNMP queries to the server. I do see Unix - Get Mounted Partitions and can graph / and /boot, but those are not VMFS volumes.

Thanks for your suggestions and help.

In case there is any OID that displays what you require, please tell us. We will help you getting this graphed.
Second: you may serach the forums for ressources already been provided by other cacti users.
Third, you may ask your manufacturer for the OIDs that provide such an informatuion nand/or ask him to provide that by other means (e.g. web page ...)
