cacti gives blank page & PHP-error in apache-log

Post by ejcacti »

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade my cacti-installation from 0.8.7g to 0.8.7h under FreeBSD 8.2.

After upgrading the port itself (i.e. cacti) I went on installing the plugin architecture. Did as instructed in http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:1_installation.9_pia.

When trying to access my cacti-installation it only gives a blank page.

In the http-error log I see lines like the following:

[Wed Jan 11 14:27:28 2012] [error] [client x.x.x.x] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /usr/local/share/cacti/lib/plugins.php on line 470

Line470 in the corresponding file is "<?php"

So I decided to comment out that line in plugins.php. Result: no error in the http-log, but still a blank page when I try to access cacti.

Does anybody out there have any idea as to what can be wrong here?

Thanks much in advance for your help,
-ewald

I assume the patch process did go wrong, as there shouldn't be a line 470 in that file.

Hi,

Thanks for the hint about the update process going wrong: I decided to simply copy the plugin-files to the cacti installation directory instead of applying the patches and this solved all problems: Cacti now comes up and I can login :D

Thanks much for your quick help!
