Cacti not storing the right value

Post by LoZio »

Hi,
i have a script that returns me the number of DNS queries serverd.
When i launch from the shell i obtain something like
Q:11959805
I created a data input method and everything to the graph.
Data is collected and populated but values seemed wrong. Instead of thousands of queries per 5minute, i got 20 to 30.
To be short, RRD data (derivative) contains the difference between samples, as if they were cut to the first five digits
Q:11931333->Q:11931
Q:11959805->Q:11959

I set the debug level to the system, and got
PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[491] TH[1] DS[13151] SCRIPT: /XXXXX/cacti/scripts/getDNSstats.sh, output: Q:11969146

So the polling is running right and returning the full values (XXXXX put by me).
What am I missing?
Running 0.8.7g on FreeBSD 8.2 x64.

Initially I shortened the output from QRYV4:xxx to Q:xxxx thinking it was too long (I read about some kind of limit), but it didn't change. Also using counter instead of derivative leads to same result.

Thanks

In case you're using a COUNTER, then the value represented is related to "items per second" and not "items per interval". In case you nedd the latter, please use a CDEF like the default CDEF "Make per 5 Minutes"
