Can special fields be entered in thold?

Post by sacoo »

In my graphs, I use this title
|host_description| - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias|
that is translated to something like
server_name - eth1 - description
Can the same effect be achieved by thresholds? Whatever I set between | character just gets ignored.
Thanks,

Joan

If you setup the pattern in your Threshold Template, and you use 0.4.9++, yes.

Hi, I am using 0.4.9.3 with Version 0.8.7i and at least for me it doesn't work.

I'm setting the name in the threshold template as:

Code: Select all

|host_description| - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias|
I create a new threshold for a interface that has a text, the graph with the same name template is:

Code: Select all

sw-giga - Gi1/0/24 - Description
In the threshold I can only see

Code: Select all

sw-giga - Traffic - Gi1/0/24 [traffic_in]
I do have "Template Propagation Enabled" checked

Apply the changes from Thold version 2036 to your environment. Then, for existing Tholds, you can Re-Apply Suggested Names. Also test on a new threshold. It appears that only one of multiple cases was covered in the prior patch. Please send feedback.

It works as expected for the new templates with r2036, but for the old templates I still don't know how to reapply the templates for the ones not working.
To reapply the template I tried enabling and disabling the "Template Propagation Enabled" and it doesn't change, there's also no difference when changin the threshold templates.

Good morning,

Were you able to reproduce the problem with existing templates? I'd rather prefer not deleting the existing templates to keep the history.

I just recreated the templates (after upgrading to r2049) and almost everything seems to work.

The only problem I found so far is that I cannot create thresholds for the aggregated graphs.
