Hi all
Please have a look at this u10 ucd/net CPU usage graph:
As you can see, the CPU usage gone wild
Anyone experienced the same behaviour? Any hints what's the matter here?
Cacti is running on 0.8.7g with rrdtool 1.2 and NET-SNMP version 5.3.2.2.
Thanks in advance for support and best regards,
Simon

All objects in Cacti that are of type 'GUAGE' IMNSHO should not have a Max associated with them. Check for max values set in your Data Templates. If they are there, set them to either 'U' or '0' (depending on Cacti version).
Then use 'rrdtool tune <file> -a dsname:Nan' to adjust the max value to unset.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

That's weird: None of my affected data template types are GAUGE, they're all COUNTERs.
Could that be the reason? I just do not understand why they should be a GAUGE value... any ideas? What are the cacti defaults for these data templates?

Right, forgot about that. Check for the max values on the counters. They should be no less than 400.

Re: [ucd/net] CPU graphs gone wild
Bad luck - all of them 5000 or even higher.
Update: Looks like the max isn't high enough for my systems. I checked that with result logging in cacti. I try to adjust them to a higher level.
Do you know why this max value is quite little in the default settings? I just can't imagine I'm the only person with this behaviour...

There are quite a lot of such templates out there. E.g. we do use a custom made with custom MAX values. And yes, most of those templates stem from times, where a quad core was not been thought about ...
