custom timespan setting still not working 0.8.7h

I've read the previous posts regarding this and I know the witness has suggested grabbing the new timespan_settings.php from SVN. That is exactly what I did and then put it in place in <cacti_dir>/lib/ however I still have exactly the same issue, as soon as I specify a date range and click refresh both dates disappear and I lose any sort of date note on the graph itself.

Mostly confused as I've seen this fixed the issues for most other people running .0.8.7h but so far has not for me, are there other files I can overwrite? I have the svn checked out and up to date currently.

I was mistaken about which new file to get. Once I grabbed the one from the development branch this problem is solved.
