Lost Thresholds & Threshold templates during upgrade -solved

Post by jjancel »

Doing a test upgrade from .8.7e PIA 2.5. to .8.7h and PIA 3.0. I am able to get Thold up and running. However, all of my previous thresholds, and threshold templates are gone.

I am able to create new threshold templates and thresholds without an error.

Did something change between versions that would prevent the threshold information from being able to be upgraded?

No, but when you uninstall, everything is removed. You should check to see if the table is empty or if there are errors bringing up the templates.

That makes sense. When I did the upgrade, I saw that Thold was listed under Plugin Management. However, I had not installed any plugins into the plugin directory yet. So I was confused, and disabled and removed the Thold that was listed there. I then installed the latest version.

This also explains why all the user accounts lost their email addresses.

Thanks!

Yea, that API (Uninstall API) is not preferred IMHO. Cause there are several dependencies these days with fields in the various tables and an all or nothing approach is 'bad' for a lack of another public term that I would normally use in public conversation.

I'm getting here a few years late, but earlier this week I upgraded my cactiCORP (cactiEZ) from 0.0.8b to 0.0.8h and yesterday I noticed I lost my tholds.
BUT I have the backup.sh running (with a few mods) so I've daily backups.
So I took the cacti-backup.sql and the syslog.sql from the backup tar, and pasted those backup databases over the current. Don't know if I broke something else yet, but my tholds are back (God knows how I lost them in the first place, since I did not uninstall anything during upgrade).

Hope it helps.
