HEX-STRING is it possible to use -Oa option in cacti?

Post by DwayneDibbley »

I have one model of printers that return the supply info description in a HEX-STRING, if i run snmp-walk with -Oa option it converts and returns the readable string

Question is, it is possible to add this option to the snmp.php? so it will always return the HEX-STRING as STRING?

or should it already be detecting a HEX-STRING and formating it as STRING?

Thanks

That's a bit of a problem. Open a bug at http://bugs.cacti.net. The problem is that most people use 'php-snmp' and it has no such setting. You can often fix this problem with your snmp agent simply by having the vendors MIB file properly installed on your Cacti box. Please note that this is NOT a cacti problem, but rather a vendor agent problem on the remote host. The MIB file, if written correctly, will instruct Net-SNMP to override the Hex String and convert it to a standard string for you.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
