Upgrade procedure for plugins

Hi,
For the moment, whenever a new plugin comes out I uninstall from the GUI and reinstall. This requires me then to reconfigure most items relative to the plugin.

Is there any clean procedure for handling plugin upgrades? I couldnt find it in the documentation...

I think, for most plug-ins, all you have to do is replacing its directory with new one.
(Some particular plug-ins have its own script for upgrading.)

NOTICE: Don't leave old plug-in directory (e.g. renaming to 'xxxx.bak') under the 'plugins/' directory. It will cause conflicts.
