Device status Unknown, poller not even attempting to check

Post by frozensolid »

I have Cacti up and running with a new install, and it is running fine for the localhost device. I added a new device and it has gone through several polling intervals but it still lists as an unknown status.

I turned on the poller's debug mode and I see it polling localhost, but it's not polling the new device. If I check the poller cache in system utilities, it doesn't list the new device either. I've also tried refreshing the poller cache.

What might I be doing wrong?

I've already done that. Like I said, it's not even trying to poll the device. There's no listing for the device at all in the debug log.

It's only polling the localhost that's added by default. It's not even trying to find the new host.

Meanwhile the device is on, and pingable by Cacti.

Make sure that there are items for this host in the poller cache. If there are no items in the poller cache, it will not be polled with cmd.php.
