Cacti - Win srv 2003 - Poller output table not empty

Post by eldee »

Hi everybody,

My name is Eldee and I am facing problems with cacti 0.8.7g.

My graphs look choppy, at some polling intervals, no data is collected.
My Weathermap plugin also seem to miss polls sometimes.

I see two symptoms of this problem:

- The "php.exe poller.php" command output is: "Poller output table not empty" (as seen in the attached image);
- This php screen freezes for around 5 minutes and then automatically closes (I manually set the scheduled task to 10 minutes).

There are no relevant messages in the logging.

What could be the cause of this problem?

Kind regards,

Eldee

The scheduled task should only be running every 5 min. Fix that. Use the cmd.php poller too, intead of spine for now.

If you're new to cacti, stop using the plugins and disable them. Get your core installation functional first and then enable plugins, one by one. Followed the links in http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11747 yet?

Thank you for your reply!

Today I did some debugging and I found out that the RRDtool takes a long time to complete.
Polling is finished in about 20 seconds. The RRDtool however takes more than 5 minutes to complete.

In total I've got 3000 objects. Is this too much?
Is there a way to speed things up? I've already tried different RRDtool versions, but this did not help.

Thanks,

Eldee

EDIT: I disabled the plugins!

3K data sources? hmm, yea you might need to use the Boost plugin.

What rrdtool version are you using? 1.2.30 win32 build is recommended.

Hi!

I've greatly reduced the number of data sources. Now the poller finishes within two minutes!
Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it!
