Adding new monitored interfaces (SNMP)

Post by peterpramb »

Hi all!

What is the correct way to add graphs for new interfaces on the monitored machine (using SNMP)?

My problem: I'm monitoring our firewalls interfaces for network traffic and errors via Net-SNMP. From time to time I've to add new interfaces (mainly VLANs) on the firewall and adding their graphs to Cacti.

The only way to inform Cacti about the new interfaces is to go to "Devices" and do a "Verbose SNMP query", clearing the Poller Cache isn't helping.

However doing this confuses Cacti about the already existing graphs (interfaces are marked as already existing even if they are new ones on the "New Graphs" page) and sometimes corrupts the connection between the 5min Graph Preview and the detail interface view (other interface graphs as the preview graph are shown).

The index type is usual "IF Description", I've the same problem with "IF IP address" too.

Anyone has the same/a similar problem or a solution?

Thx,
Peter
