SNMP v3 graphs unable to get graph title and port descriptio

Post by pierrea »

Hi,

We have recently moved from SNMP v2 to SNMP v3 on our core routers. Since the change, all associated graphs no longer show the proper graph title and port descriptions. They show |query_ifName| and |query_ifAlias| in their place. However, the data (inbound/outbound traffic, etc.) is seemingly still graphing properly.

We are able to do a snmpwalk v3 on the server side, but a verbose query on the same device returns this:

+ Running data query [1].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1'
+ No SNMP data returned
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'

We also have a red 'SNMP error' message under 'Devices'.

We are running Cacti version 0.8.7g on a Linux box, with Spine version 0.8.7e.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated, please let me know if other information is required.

Thanks,

Pierre

Check router's SNMPv3 user/group privileges.

On Cisco, for example:
Router# show snmp view
Router# show snmp user
Router# show snmp group

I have verified the snmpv3 vacm settings in our routers, everything seems OK. I didn't think this was the issue because I can do a snmpwalk successfully from the server hosting Cacti. Also, the inbound/outbound traffic data is appearing correctly on the graphs.
