Windows 2008R2 SNMP - Interface Statistics Accuracy

Post by animalmother »

Running
cacti-0.8.7g
rrdtool-1.4.4
net-snmp-5.3.2

Cacti server is on 64bit Linux (Citrix) and I am polling Windows 2008R2 clients.

Using the "Windows 2000/XP Host" Host Template and the "SNMP - Interface Statistics" Data Query my Bits/Bytes per second always seem low. Only peaking at 200 Bits per second on 10Gb cards that I know are doing about a Gb a second most of the time.

Anyone had issues like this, or have accuracy issues with Interface Statistics?

Thanks!

If you're really pushing that much traffic then its likely the 32bit counter is wrapping. Unfortunately, Windows still does not provide 64bit SNMP counters. Your only solution in this case is to monitor the server from the switch/router with 64bit counters/snmpv2.
