Monitoring Memory as a percentage

Post by mithandra »

Hi all,

I have just installed thold for the first time. I would like to monitor memory as a percentage.

I create a threshold against a cisco device then on the threshold configuration screen drop the data type to percentage, a box appears below the data type but there is nothing in the drop down.

Not sure whats going on there any ideas?

thanks Mithandra

Because there is no datasource item besides "cisco_memfree" within this datasource ("XXXX - 5 Minute Memory Free").
Probably you also have "cisco_memused" datasource item, but maybe it is separated to another datasource (=RRD file).

Additionally, as you can see in the description:
"Second Datasource Item to use as total value to calculate percentage from."
So it needs a datasource that has total value.

-or-

If both datasource items (memfree & memused) are stored in the same datasouce,
you may calculate percentage with custom CDEF using "CURRENT_DATA_SOURCE" and "ALL_DATA_SOURCES_NODUPS"...
