i use cacit-0.7.8g weathpermap0.97a
width 1600
height 800
cannot display in editor,but web is fine.
i edit it with "vi"

First guess - increase memory_limit in php.ini and restart apache.
If smaller maps work, but that size doesn't, it will be to do with memory usage.

Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
