Setting up a new cacti 0.8.7e on debian install. We have a variety of devices from brocades, cisco, juniper, and port speeds that range from 10Mbit 1900s to 10gig xe juniper interfaces.
In order to account for any traffic growth, and not cap any graphs, I've unchecked the Maximum Value under Data Templates > Data Source Item for templates "Interface - Traffic" and "Interface - Unicast Packets", and set the value to 10000000000. I set this up prior to adding any devices.
I was under the assumption then that the max value for the rrd files then generated for devices that I add, would use that number.
Instead, when I run the "rrdtool info <xxx.rrd file>" command, the max values that show up aren't of the set value I set before. For some devices it works, for some it doesn't.
Is this a bug? Or am I interpreting this incorrectly?
Would my only option then be to run the "rrdtool tune -a " command to set all the max values statically on the backend rra db?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Re: Data Templates - Data Source - Maximum Value set globall
I "feel" that you will have to change the Data Query as well. See related Graph Template and find "rrd_maximum" under "Suggested values". Not verified
