Aggregate - Graphing multiple CPUs - I need averages!

Post by sauce »

Hey, I have a host with 64 CPUs. Before I found the Aggregate plugin, I painstakingly took a 4 CPU template and modified it for 64. It was NOT fun and I would not want to do this for all my 64 CPU hosts. I just wanted to see if I could do it.

This is my custom 64 CPU graph template that I based off of the 4-CPU one I found in the forums:

So now, I tried the Aggregate plugin. It seems like EXACTLY what I need, but I just can't get it to work the way I need it to. It seems to want to create "Totals" for me rather than "Averages."

And why is my Totals wrong (at the bottom?). Obviously the Average is not 14.

Select the wrench next to the graph to get the whole rrdtool graph statetemnt. This helps for debugging.
Then, you may want to apply a specific CDEF to get the maths in place you need to get your data. There are some pseude-variables that may help, see 1st link of my sig, chapter on "variables"

CDEFs performing a calculation to get the "average" were the answer! Thanks very much. Maybe I will post a how-to when I have time.

I have not found a way to automate the process though. As of right now, I create "aggregate graphs" for each host but then I must manually assign the new CDEF, replace any instance of the word "total" with "average", etc etc

As I said above: in addition to Totals, I would like there to be an option for Average. It can be put under this "Total Type" area which I took a screenshot of. Where may I file a feature request?

Which kind of average do you need? Please post the exact formulae you are thinking about
