autom8 - run automatically?

Post by ejcacti »

Hi,

From the autom8 manual it seems like autom8 rules can only be applied by using "Apply Autom8 Rules" in the pulldown menu for a device.

Is there a way to automatically run autom8?

(Background: I'm using autom8 to generate graphs for interfaces of routers/switches. Sometimes new interfaces come up because of say a server is connected and I want to make sure that graphs for the new interface go into cacti right away - without requiring me to manually execute "Apply Autom8 Rules" for each and every network device).

Thanks in advance for your help

Did you read the manual that comes with this plugin? It's all in there

Hi,

Yes, I've got the autom8 docs (PDF) version 0.35 that comes with the plugin right in front of me.

On page 3 it says This plugin will be invoked each time a
new device is created, be it via cli or via browser.
from what I've seen I have to manually apply autom8 rules by using the pulldown-menu-entry on a device.

Or maybe I've gotten this completely wrong - what are you referring to? (which part of the manual)?

TIA for your help
