Getting temperature from DELL

Post by deneken01 »

Dear all,

From the Dell documentation CD, I got the OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1.700.10.1 for getting the unit temperature.
But when I do a snmpget from the cacti machine I get the following output;

[root@cardassia root]# snmpget -c wecilowi 10.31.44.2 .1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1.700.10.1
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.674.10892.1.700.10.1 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID
[root@cardassia root]#

Does this mean that the OID is wrong, or does it mean I need to install the MIB from DELL.
If the last one is the case, does anyone know how to do this...

With best regards,
Lucas Deneken

Try doing a walk of that OID. It may be an indexed variable.

Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply, but....

I did an SNMP walk of .1.3.6.1.4.1.674, but there was no tree entry .10892.x.x.x

And an SNMP walk of SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises does not give me any useful information about temperature...

Any idea's???

I believe you will need to have OpenManage installed on the system in order to retrieve that data. I created a graph template for a PowerEdge 1550 yesterday that has it installed, but when I started to create one for a 2550. I wasn't getting any SNMp responses. I checked and it was not installed on that server.

Yeah to get any Dell info, you need OpenManage installed (as per my experience with Windows boxes). Once it's installed though, there is a lot of stuff in there! 8)

Yep. Correct, but this work under the 2.4 kernel, as far i now this don't work with the 2.6 kernel.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
