database speed testing with Cacti

Post by G05U »

Hi guys!

1st of all i apologise if this question is unapropriate for this forum.

Im young student and i got task in my univercity to test diffrent databases speed for diffrent scrypts and then write some conclusion what database is best for what scrypt. databases i need to test are mysql, Oracle Database 10g, PostgreSQL

my bigest problem is that i have to do that on Ubuntu (not windows) and im total beginner and noob for that OS.

After alot of time and work i menaged to install msql server, Cacti (with everthing needed) folowing this guide:
http://richardkok.wordpress.com/2010/10 ... p-by-step/

and now.. i have no idea where or how to start.
So please.. if any1 can spare few mins to write me few lines/tips how to start you would save my life.
I wanna start with mysql only for now. just to get any kind of graphs/resaults.

I dont know where to get scrypt, where to "put" it .. etc..

One more time, i apologise if this is bad post, on wrong place.. and coz this is not simple question...

Tnx alot!

and if its ok.. i somehow need to get cacti to measure speed (time req.) for that scrypts.
