some devices no longer graphing

Post by istong »

Hi,

I'm having two issues on an existing cacti box.

1) We ran out of space due to the cacti.log error file filling up. I captured the following information then cleared out the cacti.log and rebooted.

/var/log/cacti/cacti.log
01/10/2011 06:58:21 AM - PHPSVR: Poller[0] WARNING: Function does not exist
01/10/2011 06:58:21 AM - PHPSVR: Poller[0] WARNING: PHP Script File to be included does not exist

Results from web browsing to the cacti graphs
Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Too many connections in /usr/share/php/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 376

2) Now some of the devices are not showing updates in the graphs. I turned on debugging for logging and didn't see anything unusual other then at the end there were 20 lines repeating Waiting on 1/1 pollers.

I ran mysqlcheck on the databases and all came back ok. I tried repolling and regraphing a couple of the devices that aren't graphing but to no avail.

Running cacti 0.8.6i with PHP 4.4.4-8+etch6 and RRDtool 1.2.15 on debian unix 2.6.18-6-686-bigmem

0.8.6i is over 4 years old.

You should really upgrade.

So many things have changed between those releases, it would be difficult to even begin to determine if you could try the normal troubleshooting.

The first thing to look at though is your my.cnf - increase the number of allowed connections to clear that error.

Not sure if I mentioned it but things were working great for the past year. Just have a bunch of devices with blank graphs (no updates showing) since we ran out of disk space then freed it up.

Thanks for that document. It turned out there were over 6 million entries in the poller_output DB. I trunked that file and all devices are graphing again. Thanks!
