Cacti - with no snmp
Our environment consists of RedHat5/CentOS5 boxes which do not have snmp enabled. However, we would like to use cacti to graph the system stats for our devices. I have successfully installed, cacti, nagios, npc. However, cacti and thus npc is reporting same data for all the graphs ( which is the data for the monitoring host). Does cacti necessarily want snmp enabled on the Linux hosts to be monitored? Would this be the root cause of my problem or am I missing something else?
Re: Cacti - with no snmp
Odds are, you are using the 'Local Linux Machine' host template - that is for the box that Cacti is on - so it is reporting on the local machine, regardless of the hostname.
Enable snmp on the remote linux boxes, grab one of the Linux templates from the repository - http://docs.cacti.net/templates - and set your remote linux boxes up to use that.

Re: Cacti - with no snmp
Enabling snmp on the remote boxes is not an option for us. The org would like to keep snmp disabled on the remote boxes. Is there any other way I can poll these remote boxes. I see that all templates are snmp based.

You may use e.g. http or https, ftp or the like, telnet or ssh.
This all requires the use of scripts that _you_ will have to implement. There's a lot of guidance (e.g. for ssh scripts) on the Scripts and Templates forum.
See a howto on implementing scripts at 1st link of my sig
