I need a little help. I have a .CSV file that represents TX and RX values for ETH0 sampled every five second. It is always in kb/s. THe file format is very simply Date,Time,RX KB/s,TX KB/s.
I'm really lost as to how I can use this info and Cacti to create a graph. I know it is supposed to be easy but I think I've confused myself by reading too much. Rather than try to patch my attempts - could someone just tell my what steps (Don't need spoon feeding or coddling - just general step descriptions) in what order I need to do to make this work...
Again, I'm not asking someone to do the work - I just need the basic steps in the best/proper order. If I'm not clear on one of them, I will for help. I've read tons on this process but I have managed to confuse myself especially when in comes to data sources etc... So I think the basic steps is the best place to start.
Thank you in advance for you time and help!!

I assume you've already read the guides at http://docs.cacti.net/ ?
The basics for getting your type of script to work with cacti is...
* Write a script to spit out the values you desire in the format of name1:value1 name2:value2 name3:value3 etc (use whatever variable names you wish of course).
* create a data input method, pointing it to your script, define the input/output fields.
* create a data template, specifying the data input method you created. create the Data sources with correct min/max values.
* create a graph template, specifying the fields form the data template.
* add graph/data templates for your device. map the graph template fields to the data template fields.
* sit back and wait for the poller to run....
