Hi all, at present, each time someone plugs something new in to one of our switches, they have to call me and I have to add the Cacti graph manually. This is quite time consuming and is very manual. What I was hoping to do is have Cacti automatically create these graph each time a switch's interface goes from the down state to the up state. Is this at all possilbe?
Thanks everyone.

Re: Automatically create graphs when ports go up?
lol I know To my defence I have been distracted for the last few months looking in to cloud storage and syncing systems like SkyDrive, DropBox, SugarSync, Gladinet, etc, so I have not been able to dedicate much time to Cacti as I did previously.... (oh oh, why do I feel like I am digging myself a deeper hole!)
If it is any consolation, I'd be happy to give you and the rest of the Cacti forum users assistance in setting up the above mentioned systems
Speaking of which, I don't know if many users would find this very useful, but I am working on a method that will allow users to automatically sync their Cacti files (whether it be the entire installation or just parts of it e.g their rrd files) to the cloud. The reason why I don't know if that would be much help though is because I assume most, if not all users already have a backup procedure in place. However, this same method can be used for anything (syncing your Word, Excel, etc documents, syncing your photos, videos, etc, basically syncing anything and everything )
This is great for when you continually use more than one computer as your files will follow you wherever you go! It is also good for when you want to free up disk space on your computer.
If anyone is interested in hearing more or needs any help with setting up this sort of solution, let me know as I'd be glad to help!
... (Now I am starting to feel like a salesman.... though the good news is, it is all free!)

Re: Automatically create graphs when ports go up?
I know this is an old thread - but seems topical....
I'm running both the poller_reindex_hosts.php and poller_graphs_reapply_names.php in a bash script to update my graphs nightly with the help of autom8. This is all good, but I noticed that autom8 runs when both of the cli commands execute - basically hitting all the devices/graphs twice. Obviously, not optimal as it doubles the run-time of the task.
Any way to get autom8 to run with only one of these cli commands? Is there a better way to achieve what I'm doing?
Thanks!
