[solved] Graphs not populating

Post by upatzer »

Hi there
Last week I installed Cacti on a Windows 2003 server using the all in one installed; I am running 0.8.7g
I seem to be experiencing one of the 'classic' problems; no data in my Graphs... I checked all the NTFS permissions and even wnet overboard for testing, using procmon to make sure that there were no issues (I even had to grand Network Service R/w access to the root of C: to get rid of the red X graphing issue) I am trying to set up basic CPU, disk and memory monitors, and the graphs are coming up, without any data in them. However, I did mmanage to get data when I set up[ graphs for individual Windows process and IP traffic. I am attaching my debug log from one pass, where the recurring theme seems to be
12/06/2010 10:00:01 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[5] Description[] DS[85] Graphs['DEV- - CPU Usage'] WARNING: Result from SNMP not valid. Partial Result: U
12/06/2010 10:00:01 AM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] WARNING: SNMP Get Timeout for Host:'', and OID:'.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.58.0'

I changed the default SNMP timeout to 7000, fpr polling I am using plain old cmd.php, and I do not have any firewalls installs on either end of the equation.
I spent most of friday readig through this forum trying to find an answer, but at this point, I am fresh out of ideas, but willing to try anything...
Let me know if I can provide any more information
thanks!!

1) With cacti, it's always important to start with the basic and then scale up. Disable all your plugins. Once you get basic monitoring functional, then enable them one by one.
2) the fact the cpu/network stats work shows your basic cacti install is functional at least.
3) the linux host templates don't work against Windows devices. Delete those devices, re-create using the windows templates, and try again.

Thanks for the response.
I actually think that I resolved my problem;
I took a step back and started witha frsh server and used the Windows template and used the create New Graphs link and just created the standard Mounted Partitions and Processor information graphs and these were exactly what I needed. Previously, I had tried to overcomplicate things and manually add graphs...

Thank you for you help! (and you did help my suggesting that I simplify things!)
