Getting totals out of energy production (KW) graph

Post by luke404 »

I'm working on Cacti-0.8.7g + 2010-10-01 patches + Plugin Architecture v2.8, I read energy production data from a photovoltaic system with a simple script I made (reads and parses web page from the PV system) and I already have a working graph with that data. That gives me a nice graph with how much kW the system is producing. I made some checks on the actual LCD display of the PV system so I know the graph is correct.

Now I want to know the total energy production on a given period in kWh. I tried something similar to the "Total bandwidth" templates that ships with cacti but without success:
solarpower.png
solarpower.png (42.38 KiB) Viewed 455 times
solarpowertemplate.png
solarpowertemplate.png (87.95 KiB) Viewed 455 times
(please note that "total power" is an actual value read from the system and is not cacti summing the three individual phases power)

two evident problems:
1) the sum is 0
...how can I get the correct total in Wh from the graph data?

2) something somewhere decided to add the "bytes" suffix
...how can I get rid of that "bytes" suffix? is it possible to add correct units to all my GPRINTs and COMMENTs?

thanks.

You might try contacting the user marcmerlin for his templates/scripts, as he's done some extensive power graphing with cacti.
