As not all of you may find your way into the "Plugin General" section of this forum, I post my help request here, too.
I need your help on getting some ideas for a new plugin to be included in a Cacti Book I am currently writing.
The goal is to describe how to develop and build your own plugin.
Please look at the post in the "Plugin General" section for more information:

Re: Help me with your ideas for a new plugin!
hi phalek, i dont have any ideas for totally "new" plugins, maybe just added features to existing plugins. i'll just throw some of my ideas out:
1) ability to audit configurations of different devices, ability to send out mass config changes to devices
2) migration tool - i'm currently in the middle of migrating a huge network, management IPs are being changed, and routers are being updated, circuits changed. it would be nice to have a tool to have all the changes i need to make on one screen. i currently need to change the device mgmt IP, device name, sometimes location on the graph tree. i also need to change the snmp index of each interface that i monitor in the data_local and graph_local tables for each data source and graph - to be able to keep the old data from before the migration.

Hi drewshin99,
Number 1 sounds very interesting, but 25 pages in a book would not be enough to talk about that. When working with IBM several years ago, a collegue of mine (from Hungary) created a Lotus Notes based version of what you are requesting.
Having a Cacti plugin with integration into ( configstore, routerconfigs, etc. ) a plugin will defiantely be of a great benefit. I was thinking about creating such a plugin for quite some time now. It's just taking a lot of resources/time to built it ...
Numer 2 is probably lacking the broader demand. It's nothing a normal cacti admin will dou frequently. I'd guess a HowTo/Cookbook would better fit this. But I may be wrong with this.
