How much SNMP traffic does Cacti generate?

Post by ihsn »

I tried looking around but wasnt able to find a specific answer.

Example; Polling one device for only one OID every 5 minutes. Basically a GET every 5 minutes for one OID. The OID is a signed integer with one decimal (-65.5 etc)

Just want to know the impact on network utilization if I use it network wide (100+ devices).

Thanks

In most cases, you will get one SNMP packet per data source item. And there's another one for the host to verify whether it's up.
Use the net-snmp UDP traffic template available in the forums to monitor cacti's bandwidth usage
