1. Download plugin you wish you usePlz mention an example step by step procedure for adding a PLUGIN in Cacti.
2. Extract this to your plugins directory.
3. Depending on the plugin style (old or new PIA), either
Go to Plugin Management, and then use the buttons to install and enable your plugin
If your plugin uses the old PIA, edit includes/config.php, and insert it into the array (shown in the file where you place the plugins)
4. Go into user management, and give yourself rights to access the plugin
This is a rough guide, but should get you started. Most of the plugins have a readme file as well, which show you how to install
A plugin is designed to "hook" into Cacti's code, and provide an extended set of functionality without having to modify the core provided by Cacti. And also plz mention what does a PLUGIN serve in Cacti ?

However:
I've already mentioned what a plugin does, so won't repeat it. A template is a collection of data sources, graphs etc that can be applied to a host all at the same time rather than choosing them all manually. A script is what Cacti will use to actually collect the data.
