Help!! Server Crash

Post by andrevb »

Hi guys!
Last week my cacti server crashed. Fortunately mysql server was installed in another machine. I was able to recover cacti (linux install) and i can see all the graph tree but i can't gather old data (eg. last month traffic). I didn't have the rrd backups so i ran the poller.php to rebuild them but seems that i lost old data. How can i plot those graphics again? Sorry about my poor english. Tks in advance.

If you had to recreate rrd files, they obviously won't have old data in them. Perhaps I don't understand what you're aiming at.

First thanks for the reply.

You are right. Those rrd's only contains new information
Perhaps I don't understand what you're aiming at.
All i want is to see a graph that contains old information

Since i lost my server i can't graph old traffic statistcs. First i thought that only the database backup would help me in this situation but now i realized that it's more complex. After restoring the backup i couldn't see any graphs. As far as i know they are created based on information stored on rrd's (right?).
Now i'm trying to make a rrd which contains the old data. The ones i've created only contains new information, so i'm unable to see information from last month, for example. I couldn't find any script to do that so i'm trying to build my own based on information stored on poller_output table. It's kinda hard for me cause i'm not very familiar with rrd creation.
Am i right or there is no need to do all that?
