change polling interval to 15 seconds

Post by chronodekar »

I've tried searching the forums for the past 30 minutes, but I haven't got a clear answer - how DO you decrease the polling interval from 5 mins to 15 seconds?

From what I understand, there are 2 elements at work with displaying the polling data - the PHP-based poller.php (generates the RRD graphs) and the cron job that does the actual data collection.

On the web-interface, under Settings>Poller there are 2 times that I can change - "Poller interval" and "Cron interval". But, the cron interval has only 1 minute as the smallest time-frame. Is there any way I can make this 15 seconds?

And the poller interval, has a setting of "15 seconds" - what's the point of this? I mean, the way I see it, if cacti hasn't even queried the data from the source, what good is redrawing the graph?

All the same, I've just tried keeping those settings to 15 sec and 1 min, but I don't see any change in the graph update frequency. :(

If I've got my concepts wrong, can some please direct me to the right documentation?
