Looking for command line script to upgrade 0.8.3a -> 0.8.

Post by daved »

Trying to upgrade 0.8.3.a to 0.8.5a and the web browser times out before the upgrade script can complete. I kicked the timeout on the browser to 20 minutes but the script still was not able to complete time. I was hoping to bypass the whole browser issue and run the upgrade from the command line. Has anybody done this? Any hints?

I can't think of any reason why the upgrade process should take this long unless your installation is abnormally huge or your Cacti box is extremely slow ;-). Regardless, the SQL that gets executed between each version is very straightforward. You would want to look at install/0_8_3_to_0_8_4.php and install/0_8_4_to_0_8_5.php for a 0.8.3a -> 0.8.5a upgrade.

For something like this it would be *really* helpful to see which SQL queries are being executed against the MySQL server during the upgrade. It might reveal what is causing the delay.

The host is a 1.4Mhz Pentium 4 with Ultra SCSI disks so I don't think the hosting machine is the issue. I am guessing its the high number of data sources we have (over 10000). I have a box freeing up here soon so I will try an upgrade on it. Maybe I can find out where things are going wrong. Thanks for the pointers.
