lots of SQL errors and fgets/feof errors - HELP PLEASE!

Post by adamc »

Operating System:windoze 2003 32 bit
Webserver: apache 2.2.14
Cacti:0.8.7e
MySQL:
PHP:5.2.11
RRDTool (Cygwin or Win32 version):1.2x
Net-SNMP:5.5
Plugin Architecture:

All of a sudden, i guess in reality, something somehwere changed, but cacti isn;t working for me.

Its a windows platform, running 0.8.7e i have weathermap installed.

logs a full of errors, error log grew to 7GB in size over 2 days and fille dup the C: drive; its been cleared down and the partition extended.

06-Aug-2010 09:55:23] PHP Notice: Undefined variable: summation_cache in C:\Apache2\htdocs\cacti\lib\graph_variables.php on line 468

[06-Aug-2010 09:55:24] PHP Warning: fgets(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in C:\Apache2\htdocs\cacti\lib\rrd.php on line 170
[06-Aug-2010 09:55:24] PHP Warning: feof(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in C:\Apache2\htdocs\cacti\lib\rrd.php on line 169

I have checked the php.ini for the relevtn statement and it is set for fopen_url.

I read through several posts saying this may be a bug and checked my rrd.pjp file to ensure it had the fix; it did. TThe machine itself is a VM, it has 4GB virtual memory, poller is allowed to use 2GB. Plenty of memory is available as is cpu.

My weathermaps are not even being updated.

I'm at the stage where i'm out of ideas and begging for any help please. Cacti has become somewhat critical to us and its a worry that this happened where non of us know if this is a resource issue; time bomb, bug etc?

I'm going to start building a whole new server meantime but i'd rather avoid the repopulation effort for all of our environment if we can fix what we have

Looks like rrdtool may be segfaulting. There was an enhancement made in Cacti 0.8.7g that corrects and detects crashing rrdtool binaries. You likely either ran out of space, or you system crashed while updating an RRDfile.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

OK, so i cloned the machine then upgraded to the latest cacti version, i have still have the weathermap tab but when i access it it says permission denied.

in user permissions there is no plugins or weathermap realm permissions check box.

plugins is also gone from the menu bar on the left

i have checked the instructions again for the PA install and it all seems ok, even the swap from global to config.php

going back to the previous, untouched and still broken machine i cloned from, any way i can resolve this issue without upgrading cacti, i mean it worked till now, so whats ths straw that broke the camels back?

BTW: seems nwo weathermaps arenot working my php error log has stopped loggin those mesages....

1) cacti technical support page show any issues?
2) non-weathermap graphs working fine?
3) ran a chkdsk /f on C: lately? possibly those/other files have become corrupted.
