[HOWTO] Upgrade CactiEZ

Post by spoonwzd »

This is my guide for upgrading CactiEZ v0.6 to the v0.8.7g versions of Cacti, Plugin Architecture, Plugins and Spine - I hope it helps those confused by the process!

Awsome guide, was very helpful on my fresh install of CactiEZ. One thing you might want to add, is to do a yum install gcc before trying to compile and install spine, as CactiEZ doesn't have gcc installed by default so the compile errors when you try and run it if you don't install gcc.

Thanks arosenau.

I guess this guide is meant as a follow on from my previous guide to setup Cacti as a virtual machine.

http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=38721

Part of that guide compiles and installs VMware Tools, so GCC is already installed as part of that process, hence it was already there ahead of the spine install.

I'm using CactiEZ and and I keep getting gaps in my graphs. I have tried all of the fixes I could find in the forums and they haven't worked. It is only happening for 1 server which is the main one I need to monitor. Will performing this upgrade fix my issues? I don't really want to mess with it unless it is likely to help. My current cacti version is 0.8.7.c
