adding devices to assign user permissions

Post by agshekeloh »

I'm running cacti 0.8.7f on FreeBSD 9/amd64, with user accounts using web basic auth.

I want to give each customer access to a tree that contains only their graphs. I go into User Management -> Graph Permissions, down to Tree Permissions, select an existing tree, and hit Add. I would expect that the tree would be added to the Web page, with a drop-down that permits me to select Allow or Deny. Instead, I get the "Save Successful" message. The "Tree Permissions" space still says "No trees."

Other graph permissions sections behave similarly -- I can't add anything to assign it specific permissions.

Am I missing something? Is there some other place where I should be assigning permissions to individual trees and graphs?

Thanks for any pointers.

It's not directly related, but bear in mind that adding permissions to view a tree does NOT add permissions to view the graphs inside the tree.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Yes, I have to add permissions to the graphs inside the tree as well.

But Adding graphs or trees doesn't actually do anything. It appears that the Add button is broken...

The general consensus seems to be that 0.8.7f was broken in a number of ways. I'd start by moving up to 0.8.7g (out a few days ago), personally. At least you know that all the known problems are fixed, then.
