Weathermap not showing speed over 70Mb/s?

Post by joms »

Hi!

I've gone into this quite strange problem: When I do transfers locally I often get to between 70-100Mb/s (this is transfer between my server (who is also the host of my weathermap and cacti) and machines local). I see the traffic out in the network, but I can't see any upload from my server wich I'm downloading the file from. This can't be right?

Does the cacti graph, corresponding with the weathermap target, display your traffic correctly?

No, it doesn't.

Then Weathermap won't. It's only reading the data that Cacti is collecting.

If your 70M peak lasts less than 5 minutes, then don't forget that teh traffic will be averaged over that time.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.

I understand, but the problem is that the weathermap shows nothing, it actually says 0 in stead of e.g 30Mb.

And what does the graph show, at that point?

Again, if the graph shows 0 (you said it doesn't show the right value, but you didn't say what it shows), then weathermap can't do better.

Now that I tried to make it happen again and paying attention to what happens it looks like this:

Firstly both cacti and the weathermap shows about 20Mb too little upload, and the pc that downloads have the right speed. After a few minutes the cacti upload-line actually stops. It's suddenly nowhere

But at the graph on the download-machine the graph is perfectly fine and the speed is about 90Mb (wich is the correct speed)

Perhaps your graph tepmlate for that particular graph has an upperlimit of 75 Mbit. Why there's an difference of 15Mb I do not know at this moment

I tried to set an upper limit to 1000, but no difference...
A mate of mine managed to solve the same problem, but he used mrtg. But he set the upper limit to 10000, I've tried this too but still no change
