SNMPv3 Brocade

Post by riccardo1981 »

Hi all,

i'm trying to discover a brocade ( 7800 model). If I use SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 I can discover it but I don't see the fcip port graphics. Brocade techical says that the only method to create the graphics is to use SNMPv3 but if i try discover the brocade by SNMPv3 I have always a snmp error.
The parameters are correct: snmp user, auth, password ( really there isn't any passoword set) but there is no way to resolve this problem..

So have we got some solution ?

Cacti version is 0.8.7d

Thanks in advance
Riccardo

Please try first to snmpwalk the device from command line only. If you don't get a response, it's not cacti's fault but e.g. a mistake on any parameter given.
Next, please try to configure cacti with same parameter set.

May you please show us the data? Please change all credentials used but leave OIDs in place, please.

I am running into the same problem. Cacti version 0.8.7e. Snmpwalk is fine, but with Cacti I get an SNMP error. What kind of data do you need to investigate this?

Below is the output of SNMPwalk, and attached is a screenshot of the Cacti device page.

I can also send you the tcpdump captures of snmp traffic during an snmpwalk and during a page reload of the device page. I'd rather not post those captures on a public forum.

Regards,
CdG

Code: Select all

$ snmpwalk -v 3 -u snmpuser1 -A XXXXXXXXX 1.1.1.1 -n VF:112 .1.3.6.1.2.1.1
SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: Fibre Channel Switch SSFCBR04
SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.1588.2.1.1.66
DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (4294967196) 497 days, 2:27:51.96
SNMPv2-MIB::sysContact.0 = STRING: Storage team
SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0 = STRING: SSFCBR04PBR
SNMPv2-MIB::sysLocation.0 = STRING: DC
SNMPv2-MIB::sysServices.0 = INTEGER: 79

Please change the ":" in the context to sth different; just as a test. We are stripping some characters out of strings for security reasons ...

I don't have access to the brocade switches myself, so I can't change the context there. However, I can leave it empty. Same result: I do get an answer from snmpwalk; I get an SNMP error in cacti
