I hope that I am posting this in the correct forum. My question is I currently have numerous servers that I am monitoring the temperature on. The template (which I have attached) pulls the current temperature and critical threshold ( shows the critical threshold with a red line on the graph) What I am doing is everytime we get/build a new server I have to go through and manually take the max threshold and subtract 10 degrees from it for each sensor. This way the red line (Critical Threshold) still stays the same on the graph but we get a notification emails when the server is 10 degrees away from the critical threshold. Is there anyway that I can use the "Auto Create Thresholds" to automatically set the threshold and have 10 degrees automatically subtracted from the critical threshold? Also one last question, I also have to go through and manually name each sensor that it is polling the temperature from...Can it automatically grab this along with the server name as well?
Thank You in advanced for any help!!

1) I assume you're using Thold alerting? Any reason why not using its automated threshold applying features?
2) Isn't the max alert threshold dynamically set in the server and can be queried via snmp? Why not use thold to alert on that when it gets within 10F of it?

I appreciate the quick reply!
Correct, I am using Thold Alerting. I have been using the automated threshold applying features, but i have to manually set the threshold 10 degrees below the servers critical threshold..Each server and sensor has a different critical threshold.
The max threshold when I put a server into cacti is dynamically set and Cacti does pull it, but how can I automate the Thold to alert when it gets within 10 degrees of that without having to go to each graph and taking 10 degrees off of the critical threshold.
For example, I build a new server and add it to cacti. Cacti grabs the SNMP information from it and shows me the current temperature and the threshold. Lets say the threshold on one of the graph shows 42 degrees. I click "Auto Create Thresholds" which sets up who to email, the re-alert cycle, etc.. I then have to click on Thold, select the newly created server and go through each graph that it polls and set the high threshold 10 degrees below the max threshold (Critical Temp), so in other words the graph that showed the Max Threshold (Critical Threshold) at 42 degrees I set it to 32 degree. This way, when the temperature hits 32 degree or above I get notified BEFORE it hits the critical threshold. Like i stated I have to do this for each graph and it becomes rather time consuming, unless I am completely over looking something very simple.

Yea, I understand the question... but don't really use thold often enough to have a good answer for ya. Moving the thread to the thold forum for better visibility....
