How do I import templates into Cacti?

Post by Callahan »

Right, I've looked all over Google but I can't find an answer. I've found this script:
http://forums.cacti.net/about12383.html
It looks like something I can make good use of to monitor my Exchange box. I have the latest version of Cacti running on Ubunti 10.4 Server. The instructions in the post above say to " Put these in your <cacti dir>\scripts folder".
My question is, are there 3 parts to all templates? The data template, the graph template and the perl scripts?
I always figured that any 'mods' could be uploaded through the Cacti web backend. I hadn't planned on doing any more command line stuff than I really had to.
I can't find any documentation that talks a new user through the basics of templates, how they tie together and what needs uploading to get the desired results.

Can anyone clear up my questions. I'm sure it will prove useful to others that are just starting out on Cacti.

Many thanks.
