Unable to add a new data imput method in version 0.8.5a

Post by fjbosscha »

I am running cacti on FreeBSD 5.2.1

I Would like to add a new data imput method but as soon as I try to save it I get an error : Error: Save Failed.

This also occurs when I try to save an existing one.

Any hints what might be wrong?

I remember there being a problem with the version of MySQL 4.x that shipped with FreeBSD and the 'hash' column that Cacti uses. Aparently this specific version thinks that 'hash' is a reserved word, while other versions do not seem to have this issue. As I recall some users fixed this problem by downgrading to MySQL 3.23.x. Not sure if this is an option for you though.

HASH is no longer a reserved word. That was a bug in some early 4 series MySQL

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/News-4.1.1.html

# HASH, BTREE, RTREE, ERRORS, and WARNINGS no longer are reserved words.
(Bug #724)

You can try upgrading you MySQL as well :D
