[solved] how to rename a datasource?

Post by starfish »

Hi,

I know this is or should be a silly question, but how can I rename an already created data source?

I tried to use the "Data Sources" item of the navigation pane and filtered the list, so that only the data sources of one host are listed.

Below the table the listbox "Choose an action" does *not* offer a rename option.

And if I click a data source to show the details, the name/title is readonly.

What am I missing? :-) Using 0.8.7e.

Thanks in advance.

When I click on the data source I can change the name of the Data Source - Tried right now (See Screenshot).

Do you mean the same mask?
What do you mean with "the name/title is readonly"?

different kind of datasource

Post by starfish »

it seems that it depends on the kind of datasource: your picture shows a interface traffic datasource, I am using a "running process info" datasource (found that here at a forum thread regarding windows process information). The latter does not provide an editable field for the name (see picture).

Seems that I would have to find out, how a datasource template specifies whether a name is editable or not...?

Seems my question is not as silly as I thought... :-)

To change all data sources that use that data template, go to Data Templates -> <template name> and change it. To make each template name customizable, check the box next to the name.
