Need apache access log analyser

Post by anshinde »

Hi all,

I am looking for a CACTI module or php/perl/shell script which analyses apache access log, and generate some reports. such as.

1. Page requests with average execution time
2. Page requests with minimum/maximum execution time

These statistics we need to identify bottlenecks of server performance. Tot rack the execution time we have modified apache default log format using following code in conf file.

LogFormat "%h %l %u %t %>T \"%r\" %>s %b \"%{Referer}i\" \"%{User-Agent}i\"" combined

Where %>T returns me number of seconds a request took to complete.

I have already setup CACTI for monitoring network/mysql/apache stats, It would be good if something on CACTI can be suggested. Open to discuss/try other options :)

Sounds like a nice project. No cycles here, but a nice project none the less. I love looking at numbers.....

Hi,

very good idea, I was playing with something like that, too. There are a couple of guides out there to remotely connect to a server via SSH with certs, run a command, take the values and report them to cacti. I wanted to "parse" a couple of files like amavis-stats, squid, apache, mysql errors (like a "slow-log" and such) - haven't had time since weeks for that.

I'll try your logformat mod anyway and try to contribute anything I reveal.
