Boost plugin not loading

Post by rjharv »

Hi all this is odd,

I have a fresh install of cacti 0.8.7e on centos 5.4.

I have plugin arch 'cacti-plugin-0.8.7e-PA-v2.6' installed. Installed the SQL also.

I have successfully installed the monitor plugin to check all is well!

Now I've tried installing boost 3.1 and the boost_sql_memory.sql

Enabled it in global.php and nothing happens. I have no settings in console -> settings for boost.

Anyone else had these problems?

Ric

Read this:

http://docs.cacti.net/plugin:boost

Specially this:
Before enabling boost, please consider very carefully how you plan to use it long term. Carefull thought should be given to how often you update RRD's at what point you need to either increase your MySQL max heap table size, or increase your update frequency. You should also consider carefully how much memory to allocate to PHP when retrieving records during major updates.

If you are unsure of what I am talking about, you should not use Boost!!!
and this:
Even when you Enable this plugin from the Plugin Management page, it is not fully enabled. This is done for a reason. You must calculate how many rows you will be maintaining in the boost table and how large your boost table needs to be.

I assume that that after you imported boost database table, you did the following:

Click on "Plugin Management"
Click on "Install"
Click on "Enable"

Right?
