Is it possible to connect to another database (netiq)

Hello, is it possible to get data out from another database (netiq) and to ilustrate and manage these data through cacti?

Can cacti directly communicate with other databases or must I create scripts to get this data out of the other database in a cacti compatible format?

You must create a script to harvest the data. Alternatively, if you wrote a plugin, it could connect to the db via the cacti gui and do 'stuff'.
