how to make history data store longer?

I found that when I check the traffic graph long time ago, it lose detail.
Not that smooth than the graph within a month.

how can I store the details longer? I think I have enough disk space.

I also find a link http://docs.cacti.net/?q=node/75 to solve this problem. but it seems not available now.
