I am new to all of this. Here is my config:
Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 - new install & fully updated
IIS 7.5
Cacti 0.8.7e
RRDTool 1.2.30 Win32 Perl510
PHP 5.3.2 nts win32 VC9
MySQL 5.1.44 x64
I have been following bsod2600 install_windows guide (excellent job, btw).
When I get to http://localhost/cacti, I receive the following error:
HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error
The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.
Module: FastCgiModule
Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler
Handler: PHP via FastCGI
Error Code: 0x00000000
Requested URL: http://localhost:80/cacti/index.php
Physical path: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\cacti\index.php
Logon Method: Anonymous
Logon User: Anonymous
I receive the same error if I try cacti/about.php.
If I try cacti/top_header.php, the top header shows up.
Can someone please help?
Thank you in advance,
JHammerer

php 5.3 does not work with cacti 0.8.7, please go back to 5.2.x.
Once that's done, does a basic phpinfo() page work?

Not really.
SNMP would be the preferred method for collecting data, as its fast with no authentication or extra scripts to invoke. Otherwise, you'll probably get the rest of your data via WMI, which is slow due to windows user authentication, etc.
