Help: automating graph creation

Post by shared09 »

Hello,

I've been digging a lot and I cannot find the answer so...

I managed (based on some other posts) to script the insertion of
several devices automatically and the data sources associated to
the RRD files

The problem is that I don't know how to script the following process that
I'm doing manually:

Graph Management -> Add -> you select a graph template and a host
Supplemental Graph Template Data -> Graph Item Fields => and you
assign the DS of externally created RRD files

I would be grateful if anybody could help on this

thanks !

Please see AUTOM8 plugin.
Batch inserting devices should be the task of cli/add_devices.php

Hello Gandalf,

thanks for the quick reply.

I already installed it and was not able to see if it would help.
I´ll try again

But, the problem is not the insertion of devices. My main problem
is creating graphs, when you have to assign the data_sources from
an imported RRD file. I could not find any example around

Can you confirm wheter autom8 would help or not ?

thanks once again !

Hello again,

I just installed autom8....

I see that when creating a rule is required to specify a
DATA QUERY, but the rrds I want to import are updated
out of cacti, so I´m not using DATA QUERIES.

Is there any any way to create rules via autom8 without
the need to use a DATA QUERY ?

thanks

Yes. Do nothing. ALL non-Data Query Graphs for a host are created without need for a rule.

BTB: It would be a good idea to study the PDF that comes with that plugin. It's all in there.
