SNMP Error only on Interfaces / Traffic monitoring

Post by wusel »

Hi all,

I have setup cacti 0.8.5 on an SUSE 9.0 box and it works, but with one problem. When i will monitoring interface traffic from my SUSE box i get no graphics.
But it generates graphics for the rest (Average usage, etc)

Under "Devices\localhost\SNMP Information" I get SNMP Error.
The data query debug output for the interface is:

+ Running data query [1].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/srv/www/htdocs/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1'
+ No SNMP data returned

I get this problem only with Interfaces (same error when I monitoring a W2K Server) as example for mounted partitons it works:

+ Running data query [6].
+ Found type = '4 '[script query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/srv/www/htdocs/cacti/resource/script_queries/unix_disk.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing script for list of indexes 'perl /srv/www/htdocs/cacti/scripts/query_unix_partitions.pl index'
+ Executing script query 'perl /srv/www/htdocs/cacti/scripts/query_unix_partitions.pl query device'
+ Found item [dskDevice='/dev/hda6'] index: /dev/hda6
+ Executing script query 'perl /srv/www/htdocs/cacti/scripts/query_unix_partitions.pl query mount'
+ Found item [dskMount='/'] index: /dev/hda6

have someone an idea where's my fault?

Thanks for help

is snmp working? click on the cactus on the left and you can see if snmp is supported or look at the devices tab. You see some information or in case of no snmp: snmp error

Hello Dieter,
Thanks for answer. I think I was a little bit confused  It was only the snmp service yes! .
As i reboot my Linux box I forgot to restart snmp.
